Prayers of the People

You, our loving Almighty God, have chosen us to be here together, loved by you, loved by each other, and to join with our Lord Jesus Christ in true heartfelt praise and worship.

We thank you, seek to bless you, to glorify you and enjoy your presence in our lives for all eternity.  Your ways are not our ways.  Your love for us is beyond our imagination.  Your ability to bring us into the state of reconciliation which has been accomplished for us is the truest power of the Holy Spirit. As your chosen ones, lead us to do all things in the name of Jesus Christ, filled with His peace and His Word dwelling in our hearts.

And now, as we come together to pray with and for one another, may we clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience as we take time to pray for our brothers and sisters here with us.  Let us take time to pray for each individual person here, in our minds and hearts in a moment of silence…

Mighty God, sovereign over the nations, direct those who make, administer, and judge our laws; President Bush and others in authority among us, that guided by your wisdom, they may lead us in the way of righteousness; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Eternal Ruler, hope of all the earth, give vision to those who serve the United Nations, and to those who govern all countries; that, with goodwill and justice, they may take down barriers, and draw together one new world in peace.

You bear the pain of the world.  Look with compassion on those who are sick; cheer them by your Word, and bring healing as a sign of your grace.  Stand with those who sorrow; that they may be sure that neither death nor life, not things present nor things to come, shall separate them from your love.

Our heavenly Father, whose Word we trust, whose Spirit enables us to pray: Accept our requests and further those which will bring about your purpose for the earth; through Jesus Christ, who rules over all things.

Amen
