Prayers of the People
Our Father, who is in heaven, we thank you for gathering us here
together to be included in the worship that our Lord Jesus Christ has
for you in heaven, and by the Holy Spirit, here among us.
We pray that the whole church, in every land, who is gathered by
Christ, and in Christ, will know your communion and fellowship, and that
our love will overflow in knowledge and insight into serving you.
It is through your inconceivable greatness that we are able to call upon
you; our Lord, our God, our
Creator, our Parent, our Savior.
In that greatness you know and love us all, you desire to be
known and loved by us all, and you see and guide our paths, and we all
may come before you and go to be with you.
We pray that we will desire in our hearts to grow in our understanding
of who we are in Jesus Christ. We
ask for a real experience where we know you more closely, and where we
in our lives devote ourselves more fully into what it means to serve
you.
For those whom we know and love, we lift to you in prayer.
Help those who are suffering illness to feel your presence with
them. May they recover
according to your will? We pray for the homeless, the oppressed, and
even those who are confined in prison.
Bless them with the overflowing love of your church in Jesus
Christ.
For those who lead and make judgments in governments of your creation,
we pray that they will be guided by wisdom and truth according to your
ways, not human ways. And
for those innocent people, who are suffering the deaths of their loved
ones, embrace them with your love, by your church.
Mighty God, whose Word we trust, whose Spirit enables us to pray; accept
our requests and further those which will bring about your purpose for
your children, through Jesus Christ, who rules over all things.
