Prayers of the People
Dear, loving Lord and Father, you are glorious, unconditionally devoted
to our being in your life. You
have loved us in the ultimate way, that you gave the very life of your
Son for us. You have
suffered for us, and share with us, even in our suffering now, for the
very purpose of revealing to us, in our souls, that you are with us and
for us, in the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. We thank you and praise you!
You are the most wonderful ground of all being!
We pray for renewal and revival in our church.
We thank you for the real blessings of faith that you are sharing
with us, in growing us, in our spiritual lives.
Lead us to serve with you in your ministry within our community.
Guide us to share the gospel you have blessed us with.
Thank you for the communion service we shared with our sisters
and brothers at Sunflower Park, yesterday.
We remember them in our prayers.
And if it be your will, please lead us to more ministry among
them.
You have told us in Scripture that our Lord Jesus Christ prays for us in
our lives. Our prayer, now, is that we may join with Christ in the Holy
Spirit as we pray for one another.
We bring to you, the worries, the sufferings, and illnesses, the
anxieties, the circumstance issues, that we all have, and especially the
ones we know of for our loved ones, and our dear ones sitting with us,
here this morning… (Let
us take a moment of both silent prayer and audible prayer; if you want
to speak out a name for us all to pray, please do.)
As we think about situations around us, O Lord, we pray for all the
families and friends of the ones at Virginia Tech University.
As they suffer grief, may they be led to see and experience your
loving presence in their lives? We
pray, also, for the serious terrorist, secular violence in the Middle
East. Help those who are in governmental authority to sense and be
led by wisdom, justice, and truth for the well being of the human
population.
Eternal God, you create us by your power and redeem us by your love.
Guide and strengthen us by your Spirit, that we may give
ourselves in love and service to one another and to you; through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
Amen.
