Prayers of the People

O Christ, out of your fullness we have received grace upon grace.  You are our eternal hope; you are patient and full of mercy. You are generous to all who call upon you.  Save us, Lord.

God of love, as in Jesus Christ you gave yourself to us, so may we give ourselves to you, living according to your holy will.  Keep our feet firmly in the way where Christ leads us; make our mouths speak the truth that Christ teaches us; fill our bodies with the life that is Christ within us.

Jesus, remember us when you come into your kingdom.  Hear our intercessions.

For your church, we ask for new life.  Reform and renew us is the true experience of your truth for us in Jesus Christ, and lead us to share your faith, hope, and love with other people in our community.  We need to be revived and grown spiritually; please answer this prayer according to your will.

For all who carry out ministries in your church, we ask for grace and wisdom.  For people who have accepted spiritual disciplines, we ask for inspired discipleship.

We ask for new unity in your name for Christians of every land.  May even people of others faiths, Jews and Muslims experience your divine blessing in Jesus Christ?  And for those people who cannot believe right now, in their lives, we pray for your faithful love to be applied to them in their lives.

Sovereign God, you hold both the history of nations and the humble life of villages in your care.  Preserve the people of every nation from tyrants, heal them of disease, and protect them in time of upheaval and disaster, that all may enter your kingdom that cannot be shaken.

Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, gives rest to the weary with heavy burdens.  Heal the sick in body, mind, and spirit.  Lift up the depressed.  Befriend those who grieve.  Comfort the anxious.  Stand with all victims of abuse and other crime.  Fill all people with your Holy Spirit that they may bear each other’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.  These are our prayers in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
