PRAYERS
OF THE PEOPLE
Third Sunday in Lent
February 24, 2008
Dear Heavenly Father, one of your first commands was that we pray to
you, and not only that we pray for ourselves, but that we also give of
ourselves to pray for others.
We pray that you will inspire the whole church with your living
water, that your church will know your power, unity, and peace.
Grant that all who trust you may obey your Word and live together
in your personal love.
Lead all nations in the way of justice and your personal goodwill.
Direct those who govern, that they may rule fairly, maintain
order, uphold those in need, and defend oppressed people; that this
world may claim your rule and know your true peace.
Give grace to all those who proclaim your gospel through your Word and
Sacraments, and your deeds of mercy.
Specifically, we certainly lift before you the situation we are
experiencing in our congregation. May
we be led by you, to know the true reality of your personal love for us,
that we may share this with others?
Comfort and relieve, O Lord, all who are in trouble … sorrow …
poverty … sickness … grief … especially those known to us, whom we
name before you in silence…. Heal them in body, mind, or circumstance,
working in them, by your grace, wonders beyond all they may dream or
hope.
Hear our prayers, our dear personal God, and help us to participate in
your answers as you lead us to grow Spiritually in knowing that we are
not separated from you; you are in us and we are personally in you. In Jesus’ name we pray.
AMEN!
