A Little Bit About Us!
As Presbyterians, we stand solidly within the Reformed Tradition. We trace our roots back to people like John Calvin and John Knox.
Presbyterians have historically placed a high emphasis on the sovereignty of God. That is, we believe that we cannot save ourselves - rather, God calls and claims each one of us and gives us certain gifts and talents. Our calling is to learn to use those gifts and talents to the glory of God and for the good of the world.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he lived and died a historical death. His death on the cross was real and the pain he felt was genuine. Because of his life, death, and resurrection we have been given guidance in how we should live and hope for life eternal.
We are Trinitarian. In addition to Jesus Christ (God the Son), we believe that God reveals himself also through Nature/Creation (God the Father) and through God's invisible yet real presence in the world today (God the Holy Spirit).
