PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

God of all that is good, in Scripture you give us your vision for the world. In love you give us your grace. In wisdom you give us each other. Your very hope is that we be in your presence. For this we give you thanks and, as one body, offer ourselves and each other as we pray.

For the promise of the faith we profess in this time of transition and opportunity. For the possibilities that come from your imagination, and for the gifts that we offer to fulfill the vision of ministry and mission you set before us.

For the world around us. For nations and people far away. For their hopes and fears, and for those who weep and suffer grief, we ask for your blessings.

For our own nation. That we may learn your vision of freedom, and that our privilege may be blessed in how we use it to benefit those around us. For a consciousness and compassion that informs our decisions, enlightens our understanding, and clarifies our responsibility.

For those who suffer. For the gift of being companions with them and for the sacred place of wounds. That we may bless, with you, those in our midst who are tired or hurting, and those who trust us to pray for them. (The people add their prayers silently or aloud.)

Powerful God of wonderful deeds, behold your servants here, created in your own image. Bless us as we continue in this time of anticipation and promise of your deeds. Remind us of your beauty and love with and through each other, and bring us now to your reality in hope and in joy. In the confidence of the One who has shown us a way to live, your only son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
